What is the HPPSC State Eligibility Test (SET) 2026?
HPPSC SET 2026 is a state-level eligibility test that determines eligibility for applying to the post of Assistant Professor in universities and colleges within the state of Himachal Pradesh. This is not a recruitment test but an eligibility test.
The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (Authorized Nodal Agency) invites information about holding the State Eligibility Test (SET) for determining eligibility for recruitment to the post of Assistant Professor(s) in Universities and Colleges located within the State of Himachal Pradesh.
The test will be conducted in 22 subjects as per Para “C” below at various examination centers located at Shimla, Solan, Mandi, Kangra at Dharamshala, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Nahan, Una, Kullu and Chamba subject to number of candidates applied for.
The candidate should ensure that they fulfill all eligibility conditions for admission to the State Eligibility Test (SET). Their admission at all the stages of the SET will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions. Mere issuance of admit card to the candidate will not imply that his/her candidature has been finally cleared by the H.P. Public Service Commission.

Eligibility Criteria
To apply for HP SET 2026, candidates must meet the following conditions:
✔ Educational Qualification
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in the relevant subject from a UGC-recognized university.
- Minimum Marks Requirement:
- General / EWS: At least 55% aggregate marks.
- Reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/PWD): At least 50% aggregate marks.
- Final-year PG students waiting for results can apply provisionally.
✔ Age Limit
There is no upper age limit to appear in HP SET.
