The Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (Pr.CCIT), Mumbai, has released an official notification for Mumbai Income Tax recruitment 2026 under the sports quota.

This recruitment drive is specially for meritorious sportspersons to fill 97 vacancies for Stenographer Grade-II, Tax Assistant, and Multi-Tasking Staff posts in the Mumbai Region.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualification

  • Tax Assistant: A Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university.
  • Stenographer Grade II: 12th Class pass or equivalent.
  • Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS): 10th Class (Matriculation) pass or equivalent.

2. Age Limit (as of Jan 2026)

  • Tax Assistant & Stenographer: 18 to 27 years.
  • Multi-Tasking Staff: 18 to 25 years.
  • Relaxation: Up to 5 years for General/OBC and 10 years for SC/ST candidates for sportspersons.

3. Sports Eligibility

Candidates must have achieved one of the following:

  • Represented a State or the Country in National or International competitions.
  • Represented their University in Inter-University Tournaments (conducted by AIU).
  • Represented State Schools Teams in National Sports/Games for schools.
  • Awarded National Awards in Physical Efficiency under the National Physical Efficiency Drive.

  • Last Date to Apply: January 31, 2026
  • Selection Process: Initial screening followed by a Ground/Proficiency Test and a Written Exam (where applicable).
